Silicom 的四埠光纖 10G乙太網路 Cloud Computer Bypass 伺服器介面卡,是一款 PCI-Express X8 網路介面卡,在單一 PCI-E 介面卡上具備四個 10 G乙太網路埠。Silicom 的四埠光纖 10G 乙太網路 Cloud Computer Bypass 伺服器介面卡,鎖定 In-line 網路系統,旨在系統發生故障時,仍能維持網路連線能力。Silicom 的四埠光纖 10G乙太網路 Cloud Computer Bypass 伺服器介面卡支援 Normal(正常)、Bypass(旁路)和 Disconnect(斷開)三種模式。在 Normal 模式下,各個埠口為獨立介面。在 Bypass 模式下,從一個埠接收的所有封包會被傳輸至相鄰的埠。在 Disconnect 模式下,此介面卡會模擬交換器/路由器纜線斷開(Cable Disconnection)。Silicom 的四埠光纖 10 G 乙太網路 Bypass 伺服器介面卡可在主機系統故障、電源關閉或經由軟體請求時,將其乙太網路埠切換至 Bypass
或 Disconnect 狀態。
在 Bypass(旁路)模式下,乙太網路埠的連線會從系統斷開,並切換至另一個埠,以在乙太網路埠之間建立交叉連線迴路(Crossed Connection Loop-back)。因此,在 Bypass 模式中,從一個埠接收的所有封包會被傳輸至相鄰的埠,反之亦然。此功能使得系統在發生故障時能夠被旁路(Bypass),從而為網路提供最大化的上線時間 (Up Time)。Silicom 的四埠光纖10G乙太網路 Bypass 伺服器介面卡內含一個板載 WDT (Watch Dog Timer) 控制器。介面卡的軟體驅動程式或軟體應用程式能夠將指令寫入板載 WDT 控制器。此介面卡的軟體驅動程式、WDT 控制器和 Bypass 電路共同提供了一個介面,用於控制與管理介面卡的工作模式。Silicom 的 10G乙太網路 Bypass 伺服器介面卡均基於 Intel XL710 乙太網路控制器。

Normal/Bypass/Disconnect 運作模式
Silicom 旁路介面卡支援以下運作模式:Normal/Inline、Bypass/Fail-To-Wire 以及 Disconnect。
一般/Inline 模式
在一般模式下,各乙太網路埠作為獨立介面運作(如圖 1 所示,示意一組旁路埠對於 Normal 模式下的運作狀態)。

旁路模式
在 Bypass 模式下,乙太網路埠與系統介面之間的連線會被中斷,並切換至另一個埠,以在兩個乙太網路埠之間形成交叉連接的回送(crossed connection loop-back)連線;系統介面端則保持未連接狀態。(如圖 2 所示:示意一組旁路埠對於 Bypass 模式下的運作狀態)。

Disconnect 中斷模式
在 Disconnect 模式下,介面之傳送連線會與乙太網路埠中斷。連接至該介面卡的交換器/路由器將無法偵測到連線對端(如圖 3 所示)。

Silicom 的旁路伺服器介面卡內建 on-board 控制器,可在主機系統發生故障(例如斷電、系統當機或軟體應用程式當機)時,對乙太網路埠執行旁路。其軟體可程式化之 Watch Dog Timer (WDT) 控制器可偵測主機系統故障,並於可程式化設定的逾時時間後,自動對乙太網路埠執行旁路。WDT 控制器可由軟體可程式化設定為啟用或停用。
Silicom 的旁路伺服器介面卡支援軟體可程式化方式選擇 Bypass 或 Normal 模式。在 Normal 模式下,介面卡之埠口保持獨立運作。介面卡之驅動程式與旁路電路共同提供一個用以控制與管理介面卡運作模式的介面。介面卡軟體驅動程式或軟體應用程式可對 on-board 控制器寫入指令,而 on-board 控制器則依據接收之指令進行處理,並相應啟動旁路電路。
在上電後,介面卡的預設運作模式為 Bypass 模式。於驅動程式載入後,介面卡的軟體驅動程式或應用程式可將卡片設定為 Normal 模式。當主機系統發出重置(reset)後,旁路控制器與旁路電路之設定將被保留。Silicom 的旁路伺服器介面卡支援 Disable Bypass Capability(停用旁路功能);因此,當介面卡接收到 Disable Bypass Capability 指令時,介面卡將不對其乙太網路埠執行旁路。在此狀態下,四個乙太網路埠將為獨立運作。此 Disable Bypass Capability 狀態亦會在斷電後被保留。此功能可用以模擬標準 NIC 的運作行為。
